It's been quite a whirlwind of activity for my Partner In Crime, Claire, and I since making the decision to return to western New York having lived and worked in Pittsburgh for the past three years. Basically, we haven't missed a beat and have hit the ground running, running, running.
Before we even seat-belted up to head north we'd been through a year's worth of planning, fulfilling appointments, working, and of course, packing for what was to be our twentieth move in as many years (something very to close to that, anyway).
We're back. There have been surgeries, doctor's appointments, constant meetings, constant work. On top of all that, we're building a house (for the second time) and we're just keeping our heads down and kicking ass along the way. Seriously. With any bit of luck, we'll be in our new home by November and preparing for whatever might be next. In the meantime, we're holed up in a 900 square foot, ground-floor apartment (with a six year old kid running and jumping and yelling above us...OY!), anxiously awaiting the completion of our home-to-be. However, about now, we're both getting slightly impatient.
It's been nearly four years of wearing headphones to watch TV, listen to music or the odd podcast. It'll be nice to have a little room to crank an amp or even a stereo system, without worrying about disturbing a neighbor who's attached. I only wish those who've lived next to, above, below, beside us had been as considerate. It's a little too much to ask, apparently.
I'm working on Session 120 as I write this. No jokes: one hundred and twenty new songs have been recorded and over the next few months I'll be picking what will end up of When You Let Go. Those songs will be completed throughout the last couple of months of this year, into next. Then? Well, possibly a CD. Maybe a release exclusive for this site. I'm still not entirely sure, but something new will be hitting the airwaves at some point next year.
Onward.
Stay tuned...
